I have been using this analogy a lot lately, but I figured it works especially with Francisco Rodriguez. If you told me three years ago that this guy would be playing for the Brewers this year, I would call the Brewers a surefire playoff team. Now...well, maybe the Brewers are a playoff-bound team, but not because of K-rod. Because he's not the Brewers closer- that would be John Axford, and from the looks of things, he's doing a pretty good job of it. So now this is turning into a bad Owen Wilson movie, with K-Rod trying desperately to help, while acting really nnoying to John Axford. He'll...it's more like the 1978 Yankees closets. You have Axford, or Lyle, who's doin a pretty damn good job already...and then the team has to get a veteran closer, Rodriguez, or Gossage, to limit Axford's playing time.
Whichever way it goes, it better end up better than how Rafael Soriano's doing for us.
Coming Tomorrow- his team is heading the division, and he's finally become a 2nd baseman that they can trust.
