The 34 Million Dollar Question
It's 2018. Bryce Harper is still one of the best players in baseball. Next year, his contract will be up, and it's going to be a MADHOUSE to see who can grab him.
I mean, on one hand, there's a very big possibility that Harper might stay in Washington, as those teams have built a dynasty of NL-East-winning squads, and Harper's a chief member, and he's helped the fanbase grow in Washington where there was absolutely nothing. HOWEVER...these Nationals teams have not won a playoff series. And it's getting to be where they might need to. If it's looking like the dynasty is falling apart, or if this 2018 Nats season falls anywhere short of expectations, Harper will want to move on.
So it's going to become a race between all the other buyers to see who gets him. Will the Yankees spend even more money? Will the Angels swoop in like usual? Will the Red Sox or Dodgers finally get their man? Will it be somebody random and ill-fitting like San Diego?
All will be revealed....next year. And it's a good thing, too, because it gives enough time for Bryce's 2018 season to stand on its own.
Harper is off to a fantastic start, hitting for average as well as for distance, and he's helping a pretty decent Nats squad get off to a characteristically nice start. I'm hoping that Harper will have a consistent, injury-free season to show anyone who IS thinking of buying that he's still one of the best in the league.
Coming Tomorrow- Former MVP, current first base mainstay with a surprisingly powerful AL Central team.

I certainly hope he stays. It would be nice for him to be the face of the Nationals throughout his career.
