The Twins, thanks to the rise of the Royals and the strengthening of the Indians, have fallen to third place in the AL Central. To be fair, it could have been a ton worse. We just went through a season of 'worst case scenario' for the Twins, so the fact that they're at least doing better than that is a relief.
The guys that were streaking...still are. Miguel Sano, Max Kepler, Ervin Santana, Jose Berrios, and, hell, even the closer, Brandon Kintzler. They're all doing really well. The core of the team, the old standard, Joe Mauer and Brian Dozier, are still hitting well and providing counsel to the new era of Twins. The same sort of momentum from May is still hitting, but...evidently not as well.
June wasn't a great month for the Twins, as they lost a ton of games, and let the Indians creep back up. The majority of the pitching staff is working with inflated ERAs, and giving up too many runs. If you're not Santana or Berrios in this rotation, you're probably not in great shape, and that's leading to some blown games. Plus, even the strong run support is beginning to fade, as the poor June is doing as number on some high averages.
It was a messy month, but the Twins have enough this season that they can get out of it. They're close enough to the Royals that it's not out of the possibility to make a fight for first again.
Coming Tomorrow- I've seen this guy pitch in person. When he's on, he's killer.
