Chacin the Dream

The Cubs' lead has sharpened over the last week; they are now 4.5 games ahead of the competition, and are beginning to cement their lead over the NL Central. Which is bad news for a borderline contender like the Milwaukee Brewers, who, despite their solid work, are beginning to lose a tiny bit of traction.

It's a bit disheartening, because this is reminiscent of the Brewers' decline last year, around this time...and also in 2014. The Brewers, this decade, are great at peaking in, like, July. The teams are usually strong, and the organization has depth, but something about September really screws these teams over. And what's even more worrying is the fact that the Cardinals are a half-game behind Milwaukee, and may lap them in the next day or so. And believe me, you do not want to get lapped by the Cardinals. I don't care who you are.

So much was going well for the Brewers this season; Jhoulys Chacin became a steady starting option, Travis Shaw continued his reign, Jesus Aguilar rose to power as starting 1B, Yelich and Cain settled in handsomely, and the addition of Mike Moustakas has added some pep to the lineup. So much has been going for this team that I really don't want it to flame out so soon.

I really want the Brewers to catch fire in the next few weeks, because they'd be a fun team to see in the postseason. It's not unheard of, and it's not impossible...but i'm beginning to get worried.

Coming Tomorrow- The A's just tied the Astros! Here's their power-hitting first baseman.
