Crappy Team Roundup: Marlins & Royals

It's getting tougher and tougher to talk about these non-competitive teams, so I'm throwing two into one post if I don't have enough to say about them. Because, as we get closer to October, I'm gonna be talking about these teams less and less, but I still wanna make customs of their better players. So we have these.

First, the Marlins. Currently, only 5 Marlins have a higher than 1.0 WAR. One of them's currently playing for Seattle. None of them are pitchers. That should sum things up.

Derek Dietrich's hitting home runs this year, which is a change of pace for the utility infielder, but he's racking up a ton of strikeouts. He has more strikeouts than Jose Urena, who's not having a great season as the ace. I dunno if it's his fault, but Miami's pitching in general has been pretty lackluster. At least last year you had Dan Straily and Edinson Volquez who sort of knew what they were doing, but here? Who's trying? Who's succeeding? Yes, Sandy Alcantara may be the future of the rotation, but he's still stuck in the minors.

The Marlins are stuck in last. I'm not saying it's Jeter's fault, but....a lot of signs are pointing that way.

And then there's the Royals. They're not much better.

A lot of similar problems. The pitching staff is full of bloated ERAs, with only Brad Keller having any positive impact on the rotation. The lineup is trying to find new people to replace guys who've been traded, and some, like Rosell Herrera and Raul Jr., have kind of worked. While most, like the glut of rookies that were helpful during the 2015 campaign, are ineffective and sloppy.

It's sad, because 3 years ago these guys were contenders, and the amount they have fallen is pretty depressing. And even still, they probably have more to give up, so I'm not even sure when the next Royals dynasty will be, and who from this team will still remain. Will it be Brad Keller of Jakob Junis?

Both teams are pretty sad right now, and it remains to be seen which has the best chance of coming back soon. That's sadly now baseball works.

Coming Tomorrow- A pitcher that got traded with the hopes of saving his season...and that...sort of worked?
