Fun in Last Place with the Reds

Okay...maybe I'm biased, because I got to see this team at home this year, but this Reds team is just loads of fun. I know they're in last, and their pitching isn't great, but...this lineup is just fantastic to watch. Look at Jose Peraza- great average, AND a mind-bogglingly great infielder. He's super fun to watch, and he's only a piece of this lineup.

Joey Votto is still one of the best players in baseball, and despite his recent injury, he's still the heart and soul of this team, 11 years after joining the squad. Scooter Gennett has become a standout after joining the team from Milwaukee, and his average has been extraordinary. Eugenio Suarez is the team standout, and might build on this season if he stays with the Reds. Tucker Barnhart's one of the best defensive catchers in the game right now. Phil Ervin's been getting a lot of playing time, and he's earned it.

So many bit players, like Curt Casali, Jared Hughes, and former Yankee farmhand Mason Williams, are making successes this year, to the point where you really wish that the pitching was better. Because, even with people like Matt Harvey and Anthony DeSclafani, it's still not pretty. At all. And may continue to sink this team unless there's a substantial improvement.

But, as a last place team, the Reds are so much fun to watch, in a good way. And even if they really don't have a chance this year, it's still great that there are so many fun players doing well here.

Coming Tomorrow- James Paxton's injured, Felix is slumping. A new ace steps up in Seattle.
