Mig Little Lies

Yesterday, the Miami Marlins got the absolute shit kicked out of them by the Atlanta Braves.

It's...one of an alarming number of shit-kickings going on in baseball right now. Brewers-Tigers was an absolute bloodbath 2 days ago, then yesterday's Braves-Marlins, and today's earlier Cardinals-Tigers one [what is it with the Tigers and getting absolutely annihilated this week?]. Maybe cause it's September and a lot of the lines have been drawn that we're past the Chris Woodward lines of decency.

But anyway, the Miami Marlins. Honestly, this isn't a year where I'd readily expect the Marlins to get the crap beaten out of them. This is the best Marlins team in a few years. Rojas-Anderson-Cooper [HA]-Aguilar has become a solid core, Starling Marte's been hitting well ever since landing in Miami, Sixto Sanchez is off to a BLAZING start in his rookie season, and even guys who looked like they didn't have much left, like Francisco Cervelli, Brad Boxberger and Nick Vincent, have been really helpful so far this year.

But you still have a few bad eggs, like Jordan Yamamoto, Alex Vesia, and the rookie combo of Monte Harrison and Jazz Chisholm who are both refusing to hit, that are keeping this team from being postseason definites. After all the good that has inhabited this team in 2020 and gotten them to 3rd...they're still the Marlins. They still have Lewis Brinson refusing to hit for average, and Pablo Lopez and Sandy Alcantara doing fine but still giving up too many runs.

This team needs to escape their past foibles and screwups if they want to make the playoff formation this year, cause this is a definite shot for them, and their most likely shot at it in years, and...they could use a boost from the newer elements. Right now they're losing to Philly, which I'm fine with, but they're at .500, they're on the last spot in the standings, and they could be usurped by Colorado if they're not careful.

Coming Tomorrow- A hitter for a team much more likely to slide into the playoffs.

  1. Yeah I was surprised the Marlins called up Chisolm, he didn't seem ready to me. And I've never been impressed with Harrison. It would be nice to see Miami bounce back and hold on to a wild card spot.
