An Surprisingly Stacked Blaster of 2018 Heritage High Number

We've reached the part of the year where 2019 Topps is seconds away from hitting, and the 2018 products are essentially bargain bin fodder until the onslaught of 2019 stuff comes along. At least that's the case at my local Wal-Mart, which is still trying to get rid of 2018 Update, 2017 Topps hanger boxes, and 2018 Donruss. And I wish them good luck with that.

They did have a few other blasters of products I did enjoy, and while I should have gone for 2018 Archives, as even if it didn't yield many set needs I'd still get some keepers for the collection, I decided to go with Heritage High Number, as I didn't end up getting a ton of that one when it was out. So, 8 packs, 9 cards per. Here we go:

Pack 1-
662: Bud Norris, who had a nice season as closer for the Cardinals
668- Shane Carle
603- GLEYBER TORRES. YAY. Forget if I have this one or not.
649- Tyler Chatwood
612- Tyler O'Neill CHROME PARALLEL. It's SUPPOSED to be #'d to 999, but...there is no serial numbering anywhere on this card. Despite a definite amount of space on the card-back for it. Hashtag Thanks Topps.
Then and Now insert of Manny Machado, still as an Oriole
645- Tyson Ross as a Padre, back when Topps thought that was happening for all of 2018
593- Jaime Barria
678- Drew Robinson

Pack 2-
546- Tommy La Stella
660- Austin Barnes
657- Mike Soroka, soon to be a fireballer for the Braves
719- CURTIS GRANDERSON. AS A BLUE JAY...CHROME PARALLEL. Once again, there's no serial numbering on this one either. But...in doing some research, I've found that these chrome parallels, which are slightly purple and unnumbered, tend to appear copiously in blasters together, and that they're known as Hot Box Purple Refractors. So...that's pretty cool.
A Topps Decals insert of Mr. October himself, Reggie Jackson. Yes, as an A, but still. Very tempted to stick this one on my laptop.
566- Adam Ottavino, newest Yankee
552- Adeiny Hechavarria, former Yankee
516- Hector Velazquez
597- Luis Valbuena. R.I.P.

Pack 3-
630- Tyler Naquin
646- Dwight Smith Jr.
506- Braxton Lee
569- PURPLE REFRACTOR OF...Logan Morrison. Weakest of the three so far, but box ain't over yet.
702- Randal Grichuk. Yes, that's a short print.
515- Hunter Strickland. Now on the Mariners
519- Eduardo Nunez. Love the background on this one
535- Pedro Severino
520- Tony Cingrani

Pack 4-
560- PJ Conlon
561- Ryan Flaherty, who had a very great first month of the season
581- Sal Romano
654- Brandon Drury, in a sweet Yankees Spring Training uniform
527- Purple Refractor of...Corey Dickerson. Not bad
Rookie Performers of Amed Rosario
623- Mark Canha
604- Taylor Motter
568- Austin Meadows

Pack 5-
650- Tomas Nido
618- Denard Span, one of the few trades that Heritage High was able to document
656- Jorge Soler
643- PURPLE REFRACTOR OF...WILLY ADAMES. One of the nicest ones so far.
722- Lewis Brinson. SP of a disappointing rookie.
Deckle Edge insert of Dansby Swanson
599- Tony Watson
508- Pedro Alvarez
543- Ryan Yarbrough

Pack 6-
541- Freddy Peralta
670- Yonny Chirinos
606- Bartolo Colon. Man, if this guy doesn't end up signing it's gonna be a tough season
592- Mitch Garver
722- Purple Parallel of Lewis Brinson. Also, some of these parallels have different photos, which is pretty cool
Award Winners of Giancarlo Stanton, still pictured as a Marlin
653- Steve Cishek
588- Lucas Duda, still on the Royals then
609- Keone Kela

Pack 7-
699- Miguel Rojas
582- Brian Johnson
579- Gift Ngoepe. Forget his ineptitude on the base paths. I'm still collecting him because of his feat as the first African in the majors.
544- PURPLE REFRACTOR OF...Fernando Rodney. Again, not bad
Miracle of 69 insert of Nolan Ryan, which is one of the two truly good ones to get in this insert series, I think.
692- Steven Brault
534- Niko Goodrum
567- Craig Gentry
607- Addison Reed

Pack 8-
528- Matt Szczur
559- Miles Mikolas. Glad he's made a comeback, but wish it wasn't with St. Louis
684- Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
576- Brandon Morrow
712- Purple Refractor of...EDUARDO NUNEZ.
709- Eric Hosmer Short Print. Fun photo, too.
600- Shohei Ohtani RC. Forget if I have this one already
522- Chris Iannetta
633- Pat Neshek. Always nice to end on Neshek as a Phillie.

So...that was surprisingly fun. Was not expecting to end up with a Purple Refractor Hot Box, so I'm glad I got this one, in addition to nabbing a lot of base and inserts I needed. All in all, fun break. Now I'm ready for 2019 Topps.
