Custom Card of the Day: Tulo Edition

I realize I've been doing a lot of new teams in old designs lately. I need to poll the herd here: Are you guys liking them? If not, I'll stop them and go back to putting them on newer designs.

But I did have a lot of fun making this one, as the 82 design is a cool one, and it was fun to change up a bit. Speaking of changing up, that's what the Rockies really need to do if they want to contend next year. Having three huge stars like Helton, Tulo and CarGo is a start, but to really contend they need a lot more pitching, better hitters and better defense. But Tulo is doing just fine. He's hitting, he's a fixture at short, and I don't think the Rockies could survive without the guy.

Coming Tomorrow- This is a breakout season for this guy, who is becoming one of the best young AL Catchers.

Custom Card of the Day: Upton Edition

The Diamondbacks are having a surprising season, and it's no wonder- the guy above is becoming a force to reckon with at the plate. Not only is he quick, but he can hit as well, and play the outfield well too. But even if the D-Backs keep beating the other three teams, the Giants will be standing in their way indefinitely, and it will take a lot to stop them from clinching. And also, if they get to the playoffs, it might bring back memories of the 2001 postseason, and I really don't want that. And I know the D-Backs haven't been the most surprising comeback of the season, but they are becoming one of the strongest.

Coming Tomorrow- Another new team in an old design, only this team isn't so lucky in the numbers.

Custom Card of the Day: Wang Edition

You're probably all wondering why this guy is getting a custom, over so many other "worthy individuals". Well, Wang over here is just as worthy: in the three years I've been making customs, I've never made a Wang, until now. This mainly has been due to injuries, or lack of a good photo, but now that he's pitched in his 1st game since the Yankees, I had no choice but to make one. And even though he bombed against the Mets, I made one anyway. Why? Let me splain...no, there is too much. Let me sum up.

My dentist happens to be from Taiwan. And in Taiwan, Chien-Ming Wang is almost equivalent to a god. The people there worship him, and root for him, and mob him for autographs and all that. This was great back when Wang was with the Bombers- we had an entire country rooting for the Yankees. Eat that Boston! But everytime I go to get my teeth cleaned, my dentist is always anxious to hear about Wang, and if he's getting better. I mentioned last year that Hong-Chi Kuo, another Taiwan native was elected to the All Star Game, but it didn't look like he cared- Kuo was 2nd to Wang, and I really felt the same way. Now that Wang's back, an entire country can regain their hero, and the Nationals can regain their great pitcher.

Coming Tomorrow- A player for Arizona that's always been a key factor in wins...even if they haven't been getting much this year.

Custom Card of the Day: Fukudome Edition

This picture is every Chicago fan's worst nightmare. I admit that I'm sad that Fukudome has left the Cubs, mainly because Cubs fans have just lost their hero. With Soriano hurt, and Ramirez dwindling, they still had a hero in Kosuke. Now that he's left, all they can rely on is Starlin Castro. Now, the Indians can gain another hero, another big power hitter, and another guy kids will wear jerseys of. Plus, him and Shin-Soo Choo can bond, being from the same continent anyway, and the Cleveland outfield will grow stronger (If all of them are healthy, a Sizemore-Choo-Fukudome combination is deadly). But seriously, with the addition of Fukudome, the Indians have grown even stronger.

Coming Tomorrow- Arguably an oddball idea for a custom, since this guy just pitched his first game since 2009, and he got swatted around by the Mets of all people. But I've always admired the guy.

Custom Card of the Day: Rasmus Edition

I know Colby over here has been a little under the radar most of his career, but it seems that now that he's been traded to Toronto, people are finally paying attention to him. There was the bit of hype in the years it took him to progress through the minor leagues, and when he finally premiered in 2009, it took off. Despite not winning ROY, Rasmus still settled into the Cardinals, and kept a low profile, not being a huge star. Now that he's been traded, his star will rise, and people will look at him more.

Coming Tomorrow- He was a hit in Japan, and Chicago, then the Tribe came calling.

Custom Card of the Day: Pence Edition

Yeah, there was really no choice for me not to make a Pence custom a few days after the trade. Which is to say I'm happy about it. Sure, it'snot like we need all those outfielders, but Pence is still a great choice for a speedy power player, and I'm glad we have him. It's funny, because the last time the Astros made the playoffs Hunter was still in the minors, and Roger Clemens was still with the team. Of course, the last time the Phillies made the playoffs Vance Worley was still in the minors, and Jamie Moyer was still with the team. But times have changed, and now Pence is most likely headed to the playoffs...unless we completely bomb the next few months.

Coming Tomorrow- A young prospect traded to Toronto, hoping to find his swing.

Custom Card of the Day: Beltran Edition

I'm currently sitting in North Jersey, away from my home, on a brief trip. Thankfully, I have already prepared a bunch of customs that I made a few days ago, before the deadline ended. Sadly, this means no Bourn, Lee, Jiminez or the things done yesterday, but in the next few days I'll bring up some of the bigger guns. For instance, Carlos over here may give the Giants their 2nd Championship in a row...or, he could just squander it, and let them lose to Philadelphia. I'd personally like the 2nd option, but it'll be interesting to see how Beltran plays out in San Francisco.

Coming Tomorrow- The man who made one of the richer teams in the NL get even richer. All he had to do was leave Houston.
