Harvey Danger

(Music Pun Streak #2. Went 90s, because of course)

So...Matt Harvey in Cincinnati. Right. So...they haven't exactly REGRETTED signing him...but...he's not really doing anything different than he was in New York.

I mean, yes, you can say that there's less pressure once you're out of a baseball metropolitan city like New York, but...you could also argue there's even more pressure if you're brought in specifically to help save a fifth place team...and more still when the guy who you were traded for is starting consistently and doing well.

Matt Harvey has gelled into the bed of mediocrity that is the Reds' starting pitchers. Some, like Tyler Mahle and Anthony DeSclafani, aren't doing too badly. Some, like Luis Castillo, Sal Romano, and...Matt Harvey, are pitching a little worse than we'd all like them to. And the funny thing is, the bullpen? Surprisingly great. There's a number of pitchers, like Dylan Floro, Amir Garrett and Jared Hughes, who have been great in relief. It's surprisingly pretty strong across the board, not even counting their consistently-lights-out reliever Raisel Iglesias.

The lineup? Great in parts, not so great in others. Joey Votto, Eugenio Suarez, Scooter Gennett and Scott Schebler are all worth the price of admission; meanwhile, Adam Duvall and Billy Hamilton aren't hitting. Heck, the catching duo of Tucker Barnhart and Curt Casali has been working pretty damn well as of late for them, to the point where if one is dealt to a contender (like, say, Boston), the other will be fine in taking over.

This is, as last-place teams go, still pretty respectable, and not completely terrible. They're not drawing a great deal, but the people that do believe are rewarded when a win comes around. The Reds won't contend this year, but...a future run isn't exactly out of the question with a bulk of these guys.

Coming Tomorrow- One of the many highlights of a team that's won a bunch of games in a row.

You might say that they're not sick, but they're not well, eh?

    1. HOW DID I MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT?!?!? That would have been perfect. Ah well, thank you for making the reference anyway.
