Phillies Update: 'Give Them a Second' Edition

So...the 'third place 2018 Phillies' that the sportswriters had been promising haven't exactly arrived yet.

I'd say it's not entirely the Phils' fault, but...it kinda is. A lot of the performers haven't been doing as well as we thought, as J.P. Crawford, Nick Williams, Carlos Santana, Aaron Altherr and Odubel Herrera's numbers are lacking. Yes, the kids, and by that I'm specifically referring to Jorge Alfaro, Rhys Hoskins and Scott Kingery, are doing just fine, but a lot of the lineup, especially the guys we're supposed to be relying on for power, haven't really done anything yet. Vince Velasquez, who promised his arm was alright, relapsed into some poor stuff at the mound, giving him the worst numbers of the three starters who've pitched this far this year.

This isn't an 'all is lost' situation yet, but unless these guys eventually pick up the pace, we may be looking at another 5th place team. And yes, I know this was supposed to be the Marlins, but they managed to steal some from the Chicago Cubs back there, thanks to breakout performances from Lewis Brinson and Cameron Maybin. So maybe they won't be ending the year in last like we thought. And if that's the case, the Phillies need to do some serious work to make sure it's not them.

Coming Tomorrow- He hit 3 home runs on Opening Day, and his team couldn't be in a better position after 2 games.
