Custom Card of the Day: Uggla Edition

I know I just posted a Brave a couple days ago, but I found those photos the same day, made the customs the same day....and didn't make much else for the rest of the week. So there's 2 braves in 3 days. Not too bad, considering the star power Mr. Uggla over here once had. A few years ago he was pretty huge. Now, his hype has depleted, and he's just a regular old 2nd baseman for Atlanta. Which isn't a bad thing, being that they're following behind Philly in the division. But still...he's not what we all thought he'd be. He's just Dan Uggla.

Coming Tomorrow- Possibly a brief Custom Card sabbatical. I might make some more, but I'll be going on vacation soon. It's a baseball vacaction though...more details soon.

Custom Card of the Day: Rays Experiment Edition

Remember back in April, when I did that Josh Johnson custom in a 73 design, and a lot of you loved it (I hope)? Well, I made an even better Evan Longoria in an 81 design. And it's no wonder- Longoria's playing like a veteran. If he was in any other division, then maybe he'd get another chance at the World Series. Unfortunately, he's in the AL East. But still, who cares about standings. Just look at that custom. Okay, maybe I'm being a little overconfident, but I think it's cool.

Coming Tomorrow- Used to be an expansionist, now he's in Atlanta.

Custom Card of the Day: Freeman Edition

I don't have much to say about this guy. He's a rookie for Atlanta, and he's pretty damn good. Him and Heyward are packing a surprising 1-2 punch at the plate, and he's doing well at his position. That's pretty much all I know about the guy. Sorry, just not a Braves fan. No offense to all who root for the Braves, and I don't wanna get a bunch of angry comments from Braves fans (okay, maybe just one of 'em). He's a great player, but I don't really know much about him. Hopefully that'll change soon.

Coming Tomorrow- Someone I do know things about. Another newer team made into a vintage design. And this guy's the center of the team.

Custom Card of the Day: Rizzo Edition

Not a lot of people have heard of this guy. Of course, not a lot of people care about the Padres right now. They have a team of youngsters (with the exception of maybe Jason Bartlett), most of which are too young to perform. But San Diego is putting all its hopes toward Anthony Rizzo, one of the guys they got for Adrian Gonzalez. He's a high-touted prospect, and the Padres are waiting for some results. Fortunately, he's been hitting pretty well. But one guy alone can't turn the team around, unless your name is Tom Seaver.

Coming Tomorrow- Another rookie, this one for a team that's doing pretty okay.

Custom Card of the Day: Ackley Edition

The Mariners have seen so many better days. To think, that ten years ago they had the most ever wins in a season, and eight all stars. Now, only 1 of those all stars is still on the team. Now, granted, it is in fact Ichiro, but he alone can't pull the team together. That's when Dustin Ackley comes into town. Drafted second in the 2009 draft (after Stephen Van Popp- I mean Strasburg), he waited the right time to play, and now he's a full timer for Seattle. Since my uncle's a Seattle fan, I hope the Mariners can turn things around for his sake.

Coming Tomorrow- Another prospect on a terrible team, this one traded for AAAADDRIIIAN.

Custom Card of the Day: Beltran Edition

I know I've been featuring a lot of throwbacks in the last few months, but how could I resist a Mets throwback, to the more vibrant blues and pinstripes of the 70's and 80's (I think). Of course, the Mets might have been wearing the throwbacks to remind fans of a time when the Mets were good, when they had big stars like Seaver, Carter and Gooden. The Mets are a franchise whose best days were years ago. Which brings me to Carlos Beltran, the aging slugger whose best days were years ago. When he was with the Royals, Beltran was quick, strong, and just what his team needed. Now, in his 30's with New York, he can only bring a portion of what he brought in the 90's and early 2000's to the table. And that's sad, because his team needs him.

Coming Tomorrow- This guy made his ML Debut recently, and in a last place team, he hopes to perform well.

Custom Card of the Day: Ervin Edition

Poor Ervin. He's never really been a star, always being overshadowed by his elders. Sure, in 2006, his rookie year he ruled his team in terms of wins, but John Lackey, Jered Weaver and even Jeff Weaver overruled him in terms of star power. The next year, he was hit by the sophomore slump, as Lackey, Weaver, even Kelvim Escobar ruled the team charts. The following year, he was a decent pitcher, but Joe Saunders stole the spotlight, and Jered Weaver was still the bigger star. In 2009, he flopped again, and Jered Weaver was on top again. Hell..last year he had to contend with Weaver, Scott Kazmir, Joel Piniero and Dan Haren for the spotlight, and he lost. This year, he's been doing decently, but in terms of star power...not so much.

Coming Tomorrow- Someone I won't have to use BaseballReference.com for, an aging New York Met.
