The Most Logical Option (is Somehow Boston)

Four teams could potentially win the AL East this year. Two of them are teams I like. One of them is the Blue Jays. And I, a Yankee fan, am about to tell you why I think the Red Sox are going to win.

Don't go looking for Rod Serling, I'm damned serious.

The Yankees and Orioles are...bright ideas, and I'd honestly prefer the O's to get a Wild Card spot, rather than Toronto, but the O's aren't great with pitching. The Yankees winning it...would be a nice fever dream, but I'm not counting on it- not this year, at least.

Which leaves the Jays and the Sox. If you've read this blog at least once, you'll know I'm not a fan of the Blue Jays. They just win with incomplete teams and not-especially-impressive rosters. They're annoying, and once again, they don't have the team to get far into the postseason. The Red Sox on the other hand...have the team to beat.

The lineup is there. The pitching is there. The bullpen is there. And there is a shit-ton of depth. Yoan Moncada just got up and is already doing pretty damn well. Everybody in that lineup has a reason to be there. The rotation has rebounded like hell- David Price is back to his old self and Rick Porcello is shutting them down like it's 2014, with some assistance from Steven Wright (when he get back from the DL), and a drastically improved Drew Pomeranz.

If somebody's gonna win the AL East, it...should be the Red Sox. They're the best team. It's a no-brainer. Hopefully they won't screw this up.

Coming Tonight- Proof that the Phillies aren't...ENTIRELY a lost cause.

  1. I hope you're right about the Red Sox - they're the team to beat on paper, but they cant seem to get everything going at once (until now?) Toronto isn't going away though. I think if the Sox can with the AL East they can win the World Series. No one else scares me except maybe Washington. Yes, the Cubs are the best team in the league...but they're still the Cubs!
